The Israeli air force bombed several military targets belonging to the terrorist group Hamas after militants fired at least 35 rockets on Friday into Israeli territory from Gaza.
Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted at least a few of the rockets.
The rockets were reportedly fired by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which was applauded by Hamas for the action.
"The spark you light today will be the wick of the explosion to come in the face of the enemy," Hamas said in a statement.
No injuries were reported as a result of the attack.
🔦 The rocket firing came in response to an incident in Jerusalem where certain Israeli nationalists clashed with riot police and marched through the streets shouting "death to Arabs," as well as growing Palestinian unrest with COVID-19 restrictions during the holiday of Ramadan that has resulted in violence against Jewish citizens.
