Linda Tripp, the former public servant who was known for her role in exposing details of the Clinton-Lewinsky affair, died on Wednesday at age 70, her family confirmed.

Tripp was a former White House and Pentagon staffer who surreptitiously recorded conversations with Monica Lewinsky in which the latter described her extramarital affair with then-President Bill Clinton. She subsequently turned those tapes over to independent counsel Kenneth Starr, leading Starr to pursue a perjury charge against the president.

Her family did not immediately divulge the cause of her death on Wednesday, though they said it was not related to the coronavirus.
