More people in China have died from the ongoing coronavirus outbreak than have died from SARS, health authorities report, heightening concerns that the disease's worldwide pandemic is just beginning.
SARS, or severe acute respiratory syndrome, generated major headlines in the early years of the 21st century, when it spread through southern China, killing 349 people.
Deaths from the novel coronavirus have topped 360 in China so far this year.
The disease is spreading rapidly throughout the world. California confirmed three new cases of the disease on Sunday, while the Philippines confirmed a death from coronavirus, the first outside of mainland China.
