The Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced it is canceling all services and public events until further notice in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
In a statement released by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday, the Mormon Church is canceling all worship services, as well as conferences and other local church activities.
"Beginning immediately, all public gatherings of Church members are being temporarily suspended worldwide until further notice," the statement reads. "This includes stake conferences, leadership conferences, and other large gatherings; all public worship services, including sacrament meetings; (and) branch, ward, and stake activities."
The church also said that bishops should consult with their stake president on how to make the sacrament available and all essential leadership meetings should take place using technology.
