Tragic details have emerged in the case of a missing 6-year-old Ohio boy.
Brittany Gosney, the 29-year-old mother of James Robert Hutchinson, reported the boy missing on Sunday. After beginning an investigation, authorities quickly extracted an admission from Gosney about what happened to her son.
The woman confessed to driving the boy to a wooded area with the intent of abandoning him. When her son attempted to get back in the car, she ran him over. After he had been crushed by the vehicle, Gosney decided not to leave him at the scene.
"[S]he picked the child up, put him back in the vehicle and drove back (to their home on Crawford Street) where she took the child in the house and placed him in an upstairs bedroom," the criminal complaint reads.
The following day, she drove the boy's body to the Ohio River and dumped it. Her boyfriend, 42-year-old James Hamilton, was also charged for his involvement.
The police are working to recover the body of James, and have removed two other children from the couple's home.
