NASCAR driver Ryan Newman has been released from the hospital, just days after he was involved in a horrific crash on the last lap of the Daytona 500 Monday that had many worried that Newman may die or be left permanently disabled.
Video taken by Newman's wife Krissie and posted to the Internet on Wednesday afternoon showed him leaving a hospital with his two daughters, hand in hand. He appeared to be in relatively good condition and was walking without support.
NASCAR had previously described Newman's injuries as "serious" but "not life threatening." He races for Roush Fenway Racing out of Concord, North Carolina. His team posted another picture of the driver and his daughters, walking out of the hospital:
