A protester and an officer with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department prayed together during a peaceful demonstration in the city on Saturday.
The department shared a photo of the moment on social media.
Officer Garren Hoskins said he noticed a protester who was speaking to the crowd about his Christian faith.
"As he was talking, he was quoting Bible verses and everything," Hoskins said. "I'm personally a Christian, in my own beliefs, and what he was saying is the same things I was raised on and what I believe."
Hoskins eventually asked the man if he would like to pray together.
"He put his sign down, looked at me, and said, 'Absolutely,'" Hoskins said.
Hoskins said the moment of prayer between him and the protester is one example of good that is still unfolding despite all the recent unrest.
"You can see rioting and looting in all cities across the United States," he said, "but I think there are things happening outside of those images that are real and powerful."
