A Nigerian Christian family is praising God after being reunited with their 17-year-old daughter, Sadiya Amos.

In January, Sadiya was abducted by gunmen, held in a room for more than a month, forced to convert to Islam, and allegedly compelled to marry one of her captors.

In an effort to secure her release, Amos's family worked with the Hausa Christians Foundation but were unable to convince an Islamic Sharia court to act.

"While doing our best to rescue her, we reached a point where we could not do anything due to financial constraint," the HCF statement explains. "While praying to God for open doors to speed up her freedom, the Power of our God went ahead and completed the work all to His glory."

That statement references the miraculous nature of Amos's eventual escape, which reportedly occurred when the guards inadvertently left the cell doors open before falling asleep. Sadiya slipped out and returned home to her parents where she is recovering.
