Over the weekend, New York's coronavirus death toll hit its lowest mark since late March.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said during a press briefing on Sunday that Saturday's coronavirus death tally of 56 was "actually very, very good news."
"This reduction in the number is tremendous progress from where we were" Cuomo said. "We have been to hell and back, but we are on the other side, which is a lesson for all of us."
Saturday's number is down from the previous low of 67 on Friday.
? When tracking began in late March, New York's daily fatality rate was roughly 800 deaths.
