New York City officials have issued 62 fines totaling $150,000 for violations of COVID-19 rules, city officials said on Sunday.
The crackdown on coronavirus regulations followed a spike in cases in Brooklyn and Queens.
New state rules have prevented houses of worship in hot spots from hosting more than groups of 10. Five unnamed religious institutions were included in the fines.
Mayor Bill de Blasio also announced last week fines of up to $15,000 for holding large gatherings and up to $1,000 for those refusing to wear face coverings.
