An on-duty NYPD officer was injured Thursday after biting a razor that was stuffed inside a steak sandwich he purchased at a Queens deli.
The veteran officer, 56, suffered a cut inside his mouth as he bit into the sandwich from Bon Appetit Specialty Food Store in Rockaway Park. He was in plainclothes when he placed his order but arrived at the deli in a marked police car and "was clearly identifiable as a cop."
Police Commissioner Dermot Shea promised a full investigation:
"Thank God he didn't swallow that blade," a source told the New York Post. "He could have sustained serious life-threatening injuries if he did."
