More than 200 members of the New York Police Department have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to Commissioner Dermot Shea.
Shea said that 211 NYPD members, including 177 uniformed officers and 34 civilian employees, have tested positive. Shea also said that 3,200 members are out sick, around 9% of the force.
There are currently nearly 15,000 confirmed confirmed cases of the coronavirus in New York City alone.
"It's a trend as you talk about what we've seen and what we're trying to do with social distancing, and lowering the curve," Shea said. "What we're seeing internally as an agency on the frontlines is we are still on an upward climb."
