A police officer in Fort Worth, Texas, resigned this weekend after fatally shooting a woman in her home. That officer still faces possible criminal charges.

The policeman, identified as Aaron Dean, shot and killed Atatiana Jefferson on Saturday. Dean was responding with several other officers to a report of a front door being open at 2:30 a.m. Upon glimpsing Jefferson through the window, Dean drew his firearm and quickly fired one shot, fatally wounding her.

The department has released both the bodycam footage and the 911 call from the incident.

The Fort Worth chief of police said on Monday that had Dean not resigned, he would have been fired from the department.

🔦 In Dallas, Texas, an off-duty police officer shot and killed a man in his own home. She was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison earlier this month.
