Army and Navy officials are investigating the motives of service academy students who flashed the "OK" hand gesture on national television during the schools' football game Saturday. The gesture is interpreted in some contexts to mean "white power."

"We're looking into it," said West Point spokesman Lt. Col. Chris Ophardt. "I don't know what their intention is.

Meanwhile, Annapolis spokeswoman Cmdr. Alana Garas said, "We are aware and will be looking into it."

🔦 The "OK" hand gesture began as a popular troll move on website forum 4chan. Some say it has been co-opted by actual white supremacists as a legitimate hate symbol. Christchurch mosque shooter Brenton Tarrant flashed the gesture in a courtroom appearance.
