Three people are dead and three others, including the shooter, were injured after a shooting at Southern California high school on Thursday morning, authorities said.
The shooting happened around 8 a.m. on Thursday at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, which is in the Los Angeles area.
Six people in total were injured, including the shooter. The Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital tweeted that it had received four patients — one female who was dead, two males in critical condition, and a male in good condition. Two others were taken to Holy Cross Hospital. One of the injured has since also died.
The suspect — an Asian male, 16, wearing black clothing — fired on the five students and then turned the gun on himself. He is reported as “gravely injured.”
An official said that authorities are currently processing a warrant to investigate the suspect’s home. He also said that security footage showed the suspect pull a handgun, shoot several people, and then shoot himself.
A spokesman from the FBI’s LA division said there is currently no known motivation.
