House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced on Tuesday an agreement on a modified North American trade pact, revamping the agreement between U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
Designed to steer manufacturing back to the U.S., the deal would mandate a higher minimum wage and strong labor laws in Mexico. It allows Canadians to buy more U.S. good online sans duties, as well as install new rules governing digital trade.
"There is no question, of course, that this trade agreement is much better than NAFTA," Pelosi said in her announcement.
Trump praised the deal, saying it will be "great" for the U.S.
🔦 The development hands a major win to President Trump on the same morning House Democrats announced two articles of impeachment against him.
