Dr. Eric Mason, pastor of Epiphany Fellowship Church in Philadelphia, preached a sermon Sunday morning that called for 200 years of slave reparations to black U.S. citizens in the form of "free college."
"HBCUs [Historically Black Colleges and Universities] funded for the next 200 years. Next 200 years. And right after that? You ain't get this, did you? Descendants of slaves not paying for college for 200 years," he said. "Nobody. And canceling every black person's student loan debt. And repaying blacks who paid for student loans."
In his message entitled, "A Biblical Case for Reparations," Mason reasoned that the solution to America's racial divide couldn't be found in welfare programs, given that they were "created for white people." Therefore, he said, "Reparations has to be comprehensive because the offenses were everything from emotional to economic."
Mason opined that while a necessary ingredient, reparations would not bring "peace on earth."
