Although Planned Parenthood of Greater New York recently had to lay off 240 workers and temporarily close 11 of its 28 locations after losing $32 million amid the coronavirus pandemic, the abortion clinic has vowed to continue providing abortions to anyone who wants them as "essential appointments."

New York's Planned Parenthood President and CEO Laura McQuade told THE CITY that she understands what her community needs from its clinics and that she made calculated decisions based on those needs.

"We know what communities need from us and expect from us, that's what we are going to be there to do. All of these decisions were made centering the most marginalized in our communities," McQuade said.
