Brazilian federal police have collaborated with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to arrest Bangladeshi man Saifullah Al-Mamun, who is considered by authorities one of the world’s most prolific human traffickers.

The United States Department of Justice said Al-Mamun’s criminal organization housed migrants in Sao Paulo and arranged for their travel through a vast network of smugglers operating in Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico.

Al-Mamun has been indicted on U.S. charges.
