Three-quarters of American citizens support the right of business owners to run their companies according to their beliefs, a new poll from a pro-religious liberty law firm reveals.
The survey, published by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, found that 75 percent of respondents believed in “freedom for people to run their business or private organizations according to their religious beliefs.”
A slightly larger majority said that individuals and groups who believe in the traditional man-woman definition of marriage should not face discrimination or fines from the government.
The Becket Fund said that the poll, which it called the Religious Freedom Index, will be repeated every year. This year’s number will serve as baseline data for future surveys going forward.
