Man left with "serious injuries" after Portland rioters beat him, knock him unconscious

Rioters in Portland allegedly beat a man on Sunday night after he reportedly defended someone from a different attack.

The man had attempted to leave the situation in a truck, but crashed into a building. He was then reportedly attacked by Antifa and Black Lives Matter activists, according to identification from independent journalists.

Rioters kicked the man in the head, knocking him out. The a woman with the man was also attacked.

Police officers responded to the scene at around 10:30 p.m., according to a statement from the Portland Police Department. Officers reported that rioters had been chasing the truck before it crashed and assaulted the driver after the crash.

"Officers encounters a hostile crowd and a squad from the Rapid Response Team (RRT) responded to help secure the scene while the investigation was underway," the statement said. "The driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. The incident is under investigation and no arrests have been made."
