A Florida woman who is eight months pregnant shot and killed one of two armed intruders who had broken into her home last week near Tampa, Florida. The two masked attackers broke into the house wielding handguns and demanding money. They first found the woman’s husband, badly beating him in front of their 11-year-old daughter.

The woman’s husband, Jeremy King, described the attack:

“As soon as they had got the back door opened, they had a pistol on me and was grabbing my 11-year-old daughter…I’m telling them, ‘I have nothing for you,’ and they’re like, ‘give me everything you’ve got!’ It became real violent, real fast.”

The wife heard the commotion and went to investigate. After one of the intruders shot at her, she retreated into their bedroom, grabbed their AR-15, and returned fire at the suspects. One of the attackers was found dead outside the home.

“Them guys came in with two normal pistols and my AR stopped it. [My wife] evened the playing field and kept them from killing me.”

King, who was pistol-whipped and repeatedly kicked, suffered a fractured eye socket, a fractured sinus cavity, and a concussion, resulting in 20 stitches and three staples in his head. The woman’s name was not released.
