President Trump announced Friday that he is suspending federal student loan payments and interest for 60 days and canceling standardized tests for elementary and high schools.
The president said that borrowers would need to contact their student loan providers if they wanted to take advantage of the temporary measure. He also said that there was "more to come" concerning student loans.
Trump said students deserved a break from testing requirements, as the coronavirus pandemic has made education difficult with school closings.
"They've been through a lot," Trump said. "School's open, school's not open. We're not going to be enforcing that."
