Prince Andrew has announced his intention to step away from the public duties associated with his royal presence after a media appearance in which he used a strange excuse to deny having slept with one of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex slaves.

The prince in an interview last week denied claims that he had engaged in sex acts with one of Epstein’s victims. He said the victim’s claim that he “sweat[ed] all over [her]” was false because, at the time of the alleged crime, he was unable to sweat due to a medical condition. He also suggested that a photograph of himself and his accuser was faked.

In a letter issued today, Prince Andrew declared that he would be stepping away from public work “for the foreseeable future” and that he had the Queen’s blessing to do so. He also expressed “unequivocal” regret over his association with Epstein.
