White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in her daily briefing to reporters that President Joe Biden does not really believe the things he said about gun background checks during a recent speech.
During the address that focused on gun control, Biden made several false statements that gun rights supporters were quick to point out.
When Psaki was asked whether Biden actually believes what he said – "that you do not have to undergo a background check" at a gun show – she acknowledged it was not.
"No, it's not his belief; he believes that background checks should be universal," Psaki clarified.
When the reporter reminded Psaki that Biden had said "no background check," she interrupted.
"Well, we know what his position is, right, so let me reiterate that background checks should be universal," Psaki stressed a second time.
