The online comment forum Reddit cracked down on several communities utilizing the platform, including one subreddit called "The_Donald," that it accused of persistently "attacking people."

According to Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, the group supporting President Trump has frequently violated company content policy, including posting racist and vulgar messages, inciting harassment, and targeting people of other religious or ethnic backgrounds.

"The community has consistently hosted and upvoted more rule-breaking content than average (Rule 1), antagonized us and other communities (Rules 2 and 8), and its mods have refused to meet our most basic expectations," Reddit said. "Until now, we've worked in good faith to help them preserve the community as a space for its users —through warnings, mod changes, quarantining, and more."

Reddit said it also banned the "ChapoTrapHouse" subreddit related to the left-wing podcast for similar rule-breaking.

The platform has moved to purge more than 2,000 subreddits. Unlike "The_Donald," however, many of those communities are being removed as a result of inactivity rather than abuse of company policy.
