Republican congressional candidate Lacy Johnson, who is seeking to unseat freshman representative Ilhan Omar in Minnesota's 5th district, announced a major fundraising haul during the last quarter.
Johnson, who released the news on Twitter, raised over 4 times more than his potential opponent. The Republican brought in more than $2 million, compared to Omar's $471,000.
The race between Johnson and Omar would be one of the country's most high-profile contests, given the Democrat's provocative statements and historically anti-Semitic remarks. Omar must first win her primary contest on August 11.
? Democrat rival Antone Melton-Meaux is also out-raising Omar by eye-popping amounts. In the April-June quarter, Melton-Meaux raised $3.2 million.
