Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was absent from court proceedings on Wednesday due to an illness the court described as a “stomach bug.”

Chief Justice John Roberts said from the bench that, while Ginsburg would miss oral arguments and questioning in the day’s cases, she would still participate in the case decisions on “the basis of the briefs and the transcripts or recordings of the oral arguments.”

This is the second time Ginsburg has missed court over the past year. From early January to mid-February of this year, she remained home while recuperating from lung cancer surgery.
