A group of Canadian salmon farmers last Monday put a stop to a fight between an octopus and an eagle, saving the bird from the tentacles of the sea creature before the former could drown.

The Vancouver Island farmers were returning to their float house when they came across the two animals tussling in the water. Initially reluctant to intervene, they eventually decided to free the eagle from the octopus' grasp using a long pole.

One farmer said the group of fishermen "feel pretty good" about helping save the rare bird, which was able to safely get to shore after being freed by the workers.
