A South Carolina police chief was stabbed in the face by a man upon answering his door on Monday, authorities said.
Bonneau Police Chief Franco Fuda answered his door after hearing a knock. The suspect, later identified as Forrest Bowman, told Fuda that he was "going to die today" before stabbing him in the left eye with an ice pick.
Bowman then took off for his mobile home, where he had a standoff with authorities, according to local media. Bowman now faces charges that include attempted murder for an assault.
Police said Bowman had recently been arrested for allegedly threatening the pastor of a local church, as well as police officers. He also reportedly threatened Fuda two years ago.
