The son of powerful Mexico drug lord Nemesio "El Mencho" Oseguera Cervantes has been extradited to the United States on charges related to drug trafficking and illegal firearm usage, according to court records.

Rubén Oseguera-González, popularly known as "El Menchito" after his father's nickname, was reportedly second-in-command of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Authorities say he distributed drugs in the U.S. between 2007 and 2017.

? Though just nine years old, the Jalisco cartel is among the most powerful in Mexico, exerting significant influence in three-quarters of all Mexican states. In 2018, the Justice Department announced a major effort to dismantle the criminal organization.
