Sony is reportedly planning to release a new Spider-Man movie in the near future in which the title character is bisexual and has a boyfriend, a radical shift from the Spider-Man's near-six-decade history.
The movie company is reportedly planning a film that will feature several actors who have played Spider-Man over the years. Andrew Garfield, who has played the comic book hero in two movies, will reportedly be cast as the version of Spider-Man who has a male romantic partner.
The Spider-Man film franchise has been through numerous reboots and revisions over the years. Following a series of films in the late 1970s and early 1980s, it was rebooted in the early 2000s before being rebooted again in 2012. A revamped Spider-Man was introduced in the Marvel Comics Universe in 2016, leading to a third reboot in 2017.
