A stampede during the funeral procession for Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani on Tuesday killed at least 56 people and injured more than 200.
The procession was in Soleimani's hometown of Kerman, according to Iran state media.
"Unfortunately as a result of the stampede, some of our compatriots have been injured and some have been killed during the funeral processions," said Pirhossein Koulivand, the head of Iran's emergency medical service.
? Soleimani was killed by a U.S. military attack on Friday. Iran has promised retaliation for the attack.
