Police in central California got a surprise on Friday when a pair of suspects discarded some cardboard boxes during a high-speed chase that ended up containing nearly $1,000,000 in cash.
California Highway Patrol officers were pursuing two cars near Merced when one of them dumped two cardboard boxes on the highway shoulder. Police eventually apprehended the suspect before returning to collect the discarded boxes, which contained $915,000 in cash
A narcotics dog onsite identified the money as having traces of drugs on them. The suspects were reportedly en route to Northern California to purchase marijuana.
