Tencent, China's largest online news site, over the weekend seemed to accidentally release actual figures for the coronavirus that are many times higher than official reports.

Figures posted Saturday on Tencent's website showed that the number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus stood at 154,023, 10 times higher than the official figure. It also listed suspected cases at 79,808, four times higher than the official figure.

The site published the number of cured cases at 269, and the number of deaths at 24,589 — 82 times higher than the Chinese Communist Party is reporting. The official number of cases and deaths at the time were both 300.

The website was quickly updated to official government numbers. It is still unclear if the alternate numbers are the result of a insider leak or tampering.
