Pre-orders for the Tesla Cybertruck surpassed 535,000 as of Wednesday, according to an unofficial counter that tracks vehicle reservations.

The pre-orders have exceeded the 518,000 total reservations for the company's flagship Model 3 sedan between its unveiling in April 2016 and August 2017.

According to the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, which has been tracking pre-orders by reservation numbers, "approximately 285,000 orders have been received in the 12 weeks since [Tesla CEO Elon Musk's] last update" on November 26, 2019, compared to the 250,000 reservations during the first five days of ordering opening.

By comparison, the Ford F-150 — not only the bestselling truck, but the bestselling vehicle in America — sold just shy of 900,000 units in 2019.
