Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) released exclusive video over the weekend of his recent visit to the Donna, Texas, immigrant detention facility. It shows the outspoken conservative engaging a Biden administration staff member manning the facility who continually attempts to block Cruz from filming the conditions.
"Please give dignity to the people. Please give dignity to the people. … Please respect the people, the rules," the administration staffer told Cruz as she continued stepping in front of his camera's line of sight.
Cruz responded to the woman's pleas to "give dignity to the people," by asking if piling all the migrants on top of each other in their facility was giving them dignity.
"So you work for the commissioner, you're a senior adviser, you were hired two weeks ago and you're instructed to ask us to not have any pictures taken here because the political leadership at DHS does not want the American people to know it," Cruz responded to her.
The Texas senator told the woman that he understood she had been instructed, but that he was there because he wanted to "fix this situation." When the Biden staffer responded that "we all" want to fix the situation, Cruz shot back, "the administration that you work for is responsible for these conditions."
