Three pilots were killed after an Idaho National Guard helicopter crashed on Tuesday during a routine training mission.
According to aviation officers, the last contact they had with the helicopter was about 15 minutes prior to the crash. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
"This is a tremendous loss to the Idaho National Guard and our community," said Maj. Gen. Michael Garshak, commander of the state's National Guard. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones as we work through this tragedy."
The victims' bodies were recovered after an air and ground search, but the identities will not be released until their families have been notified.
