Update 2/23 9:44 p.m.: Woods was reportedly conscious and alert when extracted through the car windshield courtesy of a halligan tool and axe, not the jaws of life as previously reported, following the accident. He was "very fortunate" to be alive according to the first deputy to arrive on the scene. Woods was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery on a shattered ankle and two leg fractures, one of which was compound. Authorities believe Woods' seatbelt and vehicle airbags saved him from what would have otherwise been a fatal crash.
