Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow paid a tearful tribute to Christian theologian and apologist Ravi Zacharias, who has been afflicted with terminal cancer, in an emotional Instagram post Saturday.
Saying that Zacharias was destined for the "hall of faith" due to his tireless efforts to spread the Gospel of Christ around the globe, Tebow asked Christians to not only commit to praying for the founder of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, but also post a message of encouragement that Tebow could share with him as he nears the end of his battle with a rare form of bone cancer that has afflicted him since March.
"I would like to ask you to be praying for him. And two, I know Ravi has inspired me and millions of people around the world, so if he's someone that has inspired you, I would like for you to please write a sweet caption on this, because I would love to be able to show this to him and his team," Tebow said.
"I'm so grateful for Ravi and his life and our friendship and everything that he has helped mentor me in," Tebow said. "I just want to share so many of these stories, how he's touched your life, how he's touched my life, to be able to encourage him before he goes home to his forever home with his Heavenly Father."
According to a message posted Friday by Zacharias' daughter, Sarah Davis, doctors treating the ministry legend have informed him that his condition has worsened and that no further treatment options remain.
