Scott Atlas, a medical adviser to President Trump, has pushed for Michigan residents to "rise up" against new coronavirus restrictions implemented by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer over the weekend.
Atlas's call followed Whitmer imposing three weeks of emergency lockdown orders which limit indoor gatherings to two households and all outdoor gatherings to 25 people, as well as restricted schools and colleges.
Whitmer responded to the tweet on Sunday evening.
"We know that the White House likes to single us out here in Michigan, me out in particular," she told CNN's Wolf Blitzer. "I'm not going to be bullied into not following reputable scientists and medical professionals."
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel also slammed Atlas's statement.
