President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the U.S. is setting aside $25 million to protect religious sites and houses of worship. Trump also announced a group of top business leaders who have said they will help protect workplace religious freedom.
Trump attended the “Global Call to Protect Religious Freedom” with Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, making him the first American president to call a meeting at the United Nations headquarters focused on religious freedom.
“As president, protecting religious freedom is one of my highest priorities and always has been,” Trump said.
Trump did not specify exactly how the $25 million would be used.
