Adding to an ongoing series of media-related lawsuits, the Trump campaign announced on Friday that it is suing CNN, claiming the network has published "false and defamatory statements" about the campaign's present activities.

The campaign alleges that CNN defamed the president and misled readers when it reported that Trump surrogates have '"assessed the potential risks and benefits" of seeking Russia's help in the 2020 election. Legal counsel for the campaign claims that the network was aware that those allegations were false when they were reported.

Trump's campaign is seeking "millions of dollars" worth of damages, according to the complaint.

This marks the third libel lawsuit in 10 days that the Trump campaign has leveled against a major media outlet. Late last month, the campaign filed suit against The New York Times, and earlier this week it filed against The Washington Post.
