Former President Donald Trump has reportedly discussed forming a new political party with people close to him, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.
Speaking with aides and other allies, Trump reportedly said the name he wanted for the new party would be the "Patriot Party."
While the White House declined to comment on the news, such a move would likely divide the Republican Party and give greater latitude to the Democratic Party at the polls.
It is currently unclear how serious Trump is about staring the new party, the Journal said.
🔦 The news comes a day after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) accused Trump on the Senate floor of provoking the crowd that rioted at the U.S. Capitol earlier this month, signaling a further split between the traditional GOP base and Trump's supporters.
