President Trump said Thursday that he would likely vote for a gay candidate for president, saying that he "wouldn't be among [the] group" that would vote against him.
Asked by talk show host Geraldo Rivera if he would vote for a gay man to be president of the United States, Trump responded:
"I think so. I think there would be some that wouldn't, and I wouldn't be among that group, to be honest with you."
He acknowledged that the sexual orientation of Democrat Pete Buttigieg, the first openly gay man to launch a major presidential campaign, seems to have had little effect on that politician's polling numbers.
