President Trump mocked the failed presidential campaign of Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) on Monday, crowing that he could "rest easy" now that the politician had withdrawn his bid for the White House.
Booker announced on Monday morning that he was suspending his campaign. The senator had consistently polled near the bottom of the Democratic field.
Trump celebrated Booker's withdrawal in a tweet barely 15 minutes after the announcement.
"Now I can rest easy tonight. I was sooo concerned that I would someday have to go head to head with him!" the president wrote.
Announcing his campaign's termination, Booker told voters that he would do "everything in my power to elect the eventual Democratic nominee for president, whomever that may be...We have to beat Donald Trump."
