A White House official has accused China of sending "hundreds and thousands" of sick travelers all over the world in order to spread coronavirus.

During a State of the Union segment on CNN, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro was asked whether President Trump was preparing for a second wave of COVID-19.

In his response, Navarro said "of course you prepare" for a second wave, before accusing China of creating and hiding the virus, as well as allowing scores of infected people to travel abroad.

"China created this virus, they hid the virus, and they sent over hundreds of thousands of Chinese citizens here to spread that around and around the world," Navarro said. "Whether they did that on purpose – that's an open question. But that's a fact."

Navarro added that the Chinese Communist Party is "guilty until proven innocent."

"That virus came out of China. The Chinese Communist Party is responsible for it," Navarro said. "They spawned the virus in China, they hid it for two months, and they killed over 100,000 Americans."
