President Trump is planning a final farewell event on Wednesday at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland preceding President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration in Washington, D.C.
Trump, who said earlier this month that he will not attend the inauguration, is planning a rally-style sendoff with a crowd of supporters and military honors, including a 21-gun salute and band.
The president planned the event at Joint Base Andrews so that he could fly to his Florida home under the call sign "Air Force One" a final time before his term ends at noon on Wednesday. If Trump were to leave the White House after Biden was sworn in, he would need to ask Biden for permission to use the presidential plane.
Trump is expected to return to his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach by the time Biden takes office.
