Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley reportedly reached out to her former boss requesting an in-person meeting at Mar-a-Lago but was turned down. If true, the snub from former President Donald Trump is not overly surprising given Haley's recent public criticism of Trump's conduct since the November election.
During an interview with Politico, Haley said that she expected Trump to become "further and further isolated," particularly without access to his social media accounts.
Facing criticism from the former president's legions of supporters, Haley authored an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal attempting to downplay some of her remarks. She wrote that the "anti-Trump media" thrives on "hatred and polarization," implying that her Politico interview was being intentionally blown out of proportion.
If accounts of Haley's requested meeting are true, it would seem Trump is not yet prepared to make amends.
