President Trump criticized Democrat governors on Thursday, saying they are showing "no respect" to the churches in their state during the pandemic.
"One of the other things I want to do is get our churches open," Trump told reporters at the White House. "The churches are not being treated with respect by a lot of the Democrat governors. We're going to take a very strong position on that very soon."
Trump said those openings include mosques, as well
Democrats like Govs. Ralph Northam of Virginia, Gavin Newsom of California, and Roy Cooper of North Carolina have all received pushback from churches in their states as they restricted gatherings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
"I want to get our country back to normal," Trump said. "I want to normalize."
